Christians at the Bethel Springs Church of Christ believe in the God of the Bible. The Bible, the inspired word of God (II Tim 3:16-17), is our guide in what is taught and practiced (John 12:48).
Just as individuals in the first century became Christians upon obeying the Gospel (Acts 2:41,47), we are Christians only by obedience to the same gospel. Obedience to Christ begins with the following steps:
- Hearing and learning the good news about Jesus Christ (Romans 10:17).
- Believing that Jesus is the Son of God (Heb. 11:6, John 6:40), he died on a cross to pay
the price of death for our sins (I John 2:2 and 4:10), was resurrected (Matt 16:21), and is
now reigning in Heaven (Matt 16:19, Hebrews 12:2). - Repenting of one's sin (Luke 13:3), realizing disobedience of God's law (Romans 3:23,
Romans 6:23, I John 3:4), and striving to follow His teachings throughout life (Romans 6:1-7). - Confessing that Jesus is the Son of God (Matt 10:32, Romans 10:10).
- Being baptized (immersion in water) for the remission of one's sins (Romans 6:1-7, Acts 8:35-39).
- Remaining faithful until death (Rev 2:10).
